TALK AND PERFORMANCE

RTS is excited to host an artist talk and performance by current artist in residence, Sophia Cleary. Join us on Wednesday, March 22nd. Talk starts at 7pm, performance starts at 8pm. Sophia Cleary is an artist based in Los Angeles and New York City. She has worked with the Kate Bush Dance Troupe, Ann Liv Young, Dynasty Handbag (Jibz Cameron), Neal Medlyn, Alexandra Bachzetsis, and Vanessa Anspaugh & Amber Bemak. She has presented her work in NYC at the Performing Garage, Center for Performance Research, Danspace Project, Dixon Place, 321 Gallery, the Kitchen, and e-flux and in LA at the Hammer Museum and Human Resources Gallery. She is the founder and coordinator of the works-in-progress series REHEARSAL and is co-editor for Ugly Duckling Presse’s performance annual Emergency INDEX. She regularly performs music with Champagne Jerry (Neal Medlyn) and in the feminist punk band Penis, a collaboration with Samara Davis. She holds an MA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and pays her bills as a fact-checker for Us Weekly magazine.
After her artist talk, she will present a new works-in-progress participatory performance “It is from here that the world unfolds” in her studio. Participation is limited to 15 people. Audience will be video documented. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org to participate.
